The Feast of Corpus Christi, The Body of Christ
Pentecost, then Holy Trinity followed by Corpus Christi.
the descent of the holy spirit, pentecost, marks the birthday of the church, the evangelical duty of the apostles and the day which the apostles first preached after the ressurection of Jesus.
Holy Trinity celebrates the trinitarian God, the mystery of God.
And then Corpus Christi, the body of Christ... We celebrate us, and also the love of Christ for his people. Jesus gave himself, "Greater Love than this no one has, than for a man to lay down his life for his friend." Jesus plainly showed his Love by giving himself, Body and Blood...
Without the Trinity, The Body of Christ cannot be celebrated... without Pentecost, no Church can arise and no God would then be shown as 3 in 1 and without Easter, No faith would arise.
All the seasons in the liturgy are linked. The Father sent his Son and Jesus being the Son of God, is meant by "Jesus is the image of the Father" thats why he says, to have seen me is to have seen the Father, and the Holy spirit is the spirit of the Father and the Son. All three persons, one God.
As in the Gospel for Corpus Christi, "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father ,so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. " We see here, the link between the Trinitarian God and us.
Corpus Christi celebrates the Church, we as a community, the one Body of Christ. Christ, the head of the Church and we, the body of Christ, closely linked to God. The linkage of the Trinity and Corpus Christi.
We also celebrate the eucharist. The great gift of Jesus to the Church. The Eucharist! As in the gospel for Corpus Christi, "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life,and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink." The True and Real Presence of Christ. The Only Church that has it, with the exception of the Eastern Rite Catholics. "This is the bread that came down from heaven.Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died,whoever eats this bread will live forever" The life giving Bread. "unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,you do not have life within you."
So on the feast of Corpus Christi, let us recognise many in the Eucharist. and may the Eucharist unite us as one.
